CHILDREN’S BEDROOMS AND PLAYROOMS

Room Transformation

A typical child owns 238 toys but only plays regularly with 12!  They are often overwhelmed by choice.

I really enjoy organising children’s rooms as I believe it is very important to enable children to start their organisation journey early.

Children learn by example and if you help them to understand that it is good to put things back in the box or on the shelf when they have finished playing with it they will copy.  As a home organiser I often go into bedrooms where there are no clear areas designated for the toys and games.

There is absolutely no point in telling a child to go and tidy their room if they don’t know how to or don’t have a clue where to put things.

The Ikea Kallax are a firm favourite with mums.  Labelling boxes, drawers and cupboards is a good idea for children at an age where they can read.

I would get everything in a category out on the floor, for example, games, jigsaws, cars, dolls etc. Then sort through the category discarding any with pieces missing or broken. When you have sorted, put them at an accessible level and all together.  Children are logical beings and will soon remember where to return that jigsaw leading to better habits for the future.

Before.

After.
